Stratford-upon-Avon Community & Visitor Hub
Organisation: Friends of the Shakespeare Line
Station: Stratford-upon-Avon
The Vision: Provide a multi-functional Community Hub facility, making productive use of a disused room on Platform One
The Vision:
This project created a multi-purpose community hub in an empty room at the station and the premises provide a base for over eighty volunteers who manage the community gardening and arts for all the railway stations between Birmingham and Stratford-upon-Avon.
The Hub is also used as a meeting and display unit, fulfilling myriad functions such as:
-
Volunteer Hub
-
Visitor Information Point
-
Community Arts Gallery
-
Meeting & Co Working Venue
The room is also a resource for the Local Rail Passenger Group who can occasionally be found as volunteer hosts on the days when charter trains and their visitors arrive in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Meetings and appointments will be held in the multi-purpose room to progress community-based actions, schemes and initiatives linked to the railway, the local area and the Shakespeare Line.
This project has been designed to provide a much-needed railway volunteer facility and is also an important community enhancement to Stratford-upon-Avon station.
