Wellington Railway Station - Walking with Giants

This project developed publications for community walks from Wellington Station, raising awareness of the station as a place where writer and poet Philip Larkin first alighted on arrival in the town for a job interview which he said determined the course of his life.

The project is delivered by Wellington Local Agenda 21 Group an independent, not-for-profit community organisation that encourages local people to get involved in environmental issues that impact all our lives.

The free 20-page walking trail booklet created in print and online, traces the town's literary connections for passengers and local people to enjoy. Called ‘Walking With Giants’ the heritage trail guides visitors through 3000 years of history, featuring famous events, incredible stories and a cast of characters of international renown.

The project will raise Wellington’s profile, make people proud of their town and encourage visitors to spend time in the market town, arriving by train to discover the area’s cultural heritage.
